The current trend we are seeing for hardwood floors are wide plank 7 1/2″ European white oaks with white or grey washed colors. Mullican Mt Castle, Anderson, Mirage, Marcello and From The Forest are all some of our favorite manufactures for Wide Plank Euro Sytle Hardwood Floors.
FURNITURE & MOVING OUT
Probably the hardest part of installing your hardwood floors is having to move all of your furniture. Although it is a task, we do ask that you move all of your furniture or anything that touches the floor prior to your installation or refinishing date. Doing this will allow us to jump right into the installation and/or refinishing thus finishing your job sooner. We understand you may not be able to move every single piece in the home so we will help with 1 or 2 particular piece if needed. If you are installing prefinished hardwood flooring you do have the flexibility to move furniture around the install. Please keep in mind that moving of furniture may delay the installation completion date and may additional cost may apply if installation is taking place on a second floor.
SUBFLOOR PREP & INSTALL
You may not know but particle board is not a suitable subfloor for solid hardwood floor installation. This is because particle board will not hold the nail and will eventually lead to a loose and faulty floor. If you request a solid floor we can remove the particle board and install another layer of plywood subfloor to ensure stability and structural integrity. Per NWFA specifications, there must be a minimum of 3/4″ subfloor total when the joist are 16″ on center before installing solid hardwood floors. Sound expensive? Yes, removing particle board and installing a new layer of plywood is an additional cost and can be pricey but is a must if your requirement is solid hardwood. On the positive side, if having a solid hardwood floor is not necessary for your project we would happily install a glue or floating engineered hardwood floor on top of the particle board. Potentially saving you thousands of dollars. If particle board is present in your home can still provide you with a hardwood install solution to make sure you achieve your dream floor.
